What is going to happen here, for that matter what was the original idea beyonf supporting the Greek Government.
I can't see what this campaign can do for the future except act as a large self guarding POW camp, shades of WWI, yet I can't see any way out either.
This is a big fat open ended commitment with no future, and every one is faceing manpower crunches in the not to distant future. I don't believe the allied force can be drawn down too far in either quality or quantity without endangering the the position, but it is such a waste of of resources....
If it is to be a mill stone around the allies neck for the rest of the war, then we really need some sort of a policy and plan set out before launching another invasion. I mean this in moth a game sense and as a political demand of the FFO situation. People are going to be looking at Greece and saying 'never again', they will want understandings in place for contingency sake, should the invasion for France go wrong/stall.
I can't speak for France, but from a CW perspective one major theme of WWII was to avoid a repeat of WWI, and yet that is exactly what they have in Greece. A static front bleeding a steady wasteage rate for no gain. This is big medicine politically, there would be adverse comment in the house.
