22nd May 1941Extracts from “Routine Order No.16.”
GENERAL STAFF
1. SECURITY – OUT OF BOUNDS. The following are out of bounds to all troops:-
The surgery of Kenjiro JONO, Japanese Dentist, 96 Birch Road Seremban;
“MIKADO” Hotel, Sermemban;
“SHIMAYA” Hotel, Sermemban;
“MARUZEN” Hotel, Sermemban;
ADMINISTRATION
2. AIR SERVICES
a) The British Air Service between Malaya and India will operate only once a week unit further notice. The normal procedure will be:-
i) From Singapore to India. – Leave Singapore every Tuesday; Arrive Calcutta every Wednesday.
ii) From India to Singapore – Leave Calcutta every Wednesday; Arrive Singapore every Thursaday.
b) The be-weekly Qantas Air Service to and from Australian will continue as under:-
i) From Singapore to Sydney - Leave Singapore Monday and Thursday; Arrive Sydney Thursday and Monday.
ii) From Sydney to Singapore – Leave Sydney Friday and Tuesday; Arrive Singapore Monday and Friday.

3. NET, CAMOUFLARGE FOR VEHICLES – BRITISH SCALE: The scale of camouflage equipment for British vehicles, as laid down in Table 25 of A.F.G.1098 – 1000 of Jun, 40, is as follows:-
(a) Camouflage equipment will not be held for ambulances
(b) Unit reserve will be 10% of all items(c) Each car….........................................................1 net, 14 feet x 14 feet
Each truck, van or tractor, up to 30 cwt……....2 nets, 14 feet x 14 feet
Each truck, van or tractor, 30 cwt and over…..2 nets, 24 feet x 24 feet
Each wagon, GS……………………...……….1 net, 24 feet x 24 feet
(d) Hairpins necessary for vehicle camouflage are laid down as 12 for each net.
Units will not take any steps to provide for location on vehicles of camouflage net when not in use pending instructions from the H.Q.

11. CARE OF EQUIPMENT – PRESSERVATION OF SMALL ARMS: The following shows the scale of issue of stores for cleaning and preserving small arms:-
Quantity per month per 100 S.A’s.
Oil M 80 6 pints General oiling and cleaning
Mineral Jelly Red ½ lb. application mixed with Beeswax between Fore and barrel
Beeswax ¼ lb.
Oil Linseed raw 1 pint Treating of wood-work
POSTAL: The latest day for posting air mail letters and articles, weekly, is Thursday at 1730 hours for INDIA, MIDDLE EAST AND ENGLAND.
