Problem with Enterprise and even Hornet. There may not be enough navy or Marine fighter groups to fill out there wings until late November. Remember the new pilot programs wont be kicking out pilots like crazy until early 1943 so what the USN has to work with was existing groups and whatever was in the pipe. Compared to OTL Far greater losses in carriers and there groups earlier in the war most likely has already caused consolidation of some squadrons to fill out requirements. Add to that the need to pull whatever pilot they can as well to make up training schools etc. ( several survivors after the otl Midway were pulled to the states to either create new squadrons or help in training ). In FFO the tempo has made this very hard and the numbers are just not there to cover losses without severely degrading the squadrons even further.
After all that, plus factoring in that the Coral Sea is just not a friendly place for capital ships at the moment, shortages of fuel tankers in the theatre and the fact that air superiority over Morseby is not in existance, I doubt Washington would allow Nimitz to send his last two carriers to the region just to support troop movements. To stop an IJN push or as a trap...maybe. Also I think they would be reluctant to remove the 2 Marine squadron P-40's on Long Islands deck destined for the airfield on Guadalcanal as soon as its ready unless they re-task them for Morseby?

Just some thoughts.
