Not a bad idea at all, that way they can be trickled in, which helps with shipping.

Port Moresby is holding on a bluff right now. There are lots of rear echelon forces there (stores, supply, AA, RAAF etc), but in terms of actual acclimatised garrison infantry and armour, the cupboard is bare. Officially, 30Bde is the Garrison. It musters about 500 infantry, but only 200 would be able to fight at this stage. The two Bn it still has are shattered.

So that idea of yours is very good. it means that we can start moving the 32nd in to acclimatise in PNG, while the remnants of the 30th Bde can teach them Japanese tactics.

Eichelberger and his troops might be a little uneasy at seeing 50 blokes standing around and announcing that they are the 39th Bn, though.... all of it able to stand up, anyway.

OK, with your approval, Russ, we;ll do that.

Cheers: Mark
