I did have an ancestor, who went to Australia as a Royal Marine, and sailed back to England in chains.  Sort of backwards to most Aussies. 

We only have one or two poisonous creatures here in Canada, not at all like Platypus type things at all.  And only one species of lizard in Ontario, the Skink, coincidentally also the name of the best AA tank never to see service in WW2.

If that's Christopher Bell, the historian who's written on the RN between the wars, then I took a class or two under him back when I first started.
